松江区地处太湖流域碟形洼地底部，境内地势低平，属长江三角洲平原。整个地平面由东南向西北倾斜，东、南部稍高，西、北部低洼。东部“冈身”一带，海拔在3.5～4.5米（吴淞口水准，下同），最高5米；沿黄浦江两岸及县境南部，除新五乡有一大片土地（习称泖田，古代三泖之一部）海拔在2.4米左右外，其余一般在海拔3.2米左右；西、北部是低洼腹地，海拔在2.2～3.2米，为太湖流域碟形洼地最低处。在全县耕地面积中，海拔3.2米以下低洼地约占2/3。 [9]
